Another Earth

I saw the trailer for Another Earth a few nights ago. (Every couple months or so I indulge in a late night of watching movie trailers- it's fun.) Another Earth looked quite interesting. The idea and concept of essentially having another you exist on an earth #2 was thought provoking. Also, I fell completely in love with the song on the trailer [That Home by the Cinematic Orchestra].

Today, Mother, Jake, and I decided to see this flick- they were interested as well after showing them the trailer. Another Earth was a Sundance Film Festival award winner. In other words, the only theatre playing it in Salt Lake City was the Broadway Centre Theatre downtown.

The movie was nothing short of bizarre. Definitely glad that we brought the 15 year old brother for this one. So many uncomfortable moments I wanted to laugh at, but couldn't, and then did because Jacob initiated for me. My beloved trailer ended up being completely misleading. The plot was aggravating, the "twist" in the movie was absolutely horrific, and Mother while walking to the car identified the movie as "gross, morbid, disgusting, etc."

On a more positive note, I did enjoy a lot of things about it. The acting was superb, and the emotion was absolutely tangible. I wish it would have taken a different dynamic from the initial plot... Can't say much more. Wouldn't want to give it away. (You're welcome)

"There's another you out there. . . Now you begin to wonder: has the other me made the same mistakes I've made? 
And is that me better than this me?" 

These fantastic one-liners gave me a few things to think about.

• Would I be more pleased or disappointed to see myself and the way I've conducted my life?
• Would I be happy or annoyed with the people I chose to admire and associate with?
• Would I be satisfied or embarrassed with the way I treated others?
• Am I living remotely close to my potential?

This film was an absolute acid trip: C+ or B- . . . Can't decide.

Unknown: Take Back Your Life

 

Not too long ago, I was glued to my computer, watching movie trailer after trailer. "Unknown" popped up. "Hmmm Liam Neeson. Hmmm punch line reads 'take back your life'. Let's check it out." The trailer was great. The movie was better. Incredibly suspenseful, great acting, set in Berlin, mind-boggling plot, rapid. Kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Would most definitely recommend. If you happen to bump into my Dad let him know that this is one he'd like.  Overall grade: B+

Madrid: Harry Potter ya las Reliquias de la Muerte

Saw it. With host family. In Spanish (they change the
 audio over here).  Loved it. Understood most of it.
Started reading (7th book) the next morning. 
Good times Madrid.

Day One Hundred Twenty Six

Have now watched Dances With Wolves 5 out of the last 7 days.

The music in this film is absolutely gorgeous- a string infused soundtrack (my personal favorite), great story, beautiful scenery, action packed, romance (Stands With A Fist- woot woot).   

And just 3 hours long. But really.

 If you've been deprived like I was and haven't seen this flick, make some time.

BABIES

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is one of the best movies I have ever seen in my life.

Movies....

It has finally arrived! A more "summer-like" weather for my summer. Yesterday in West the temperatures were in the 70's and it was basically just a beautiful day. After some light housekeeping I showered for the day and went to Bozeman with Parker and Kendall. Melissa describes it really well "A mix between Logan and Park City." I like it. So after some shopping we went to see a movie (Angels and Demons) and I started to realize how much television and movies I have seen lately. So, I'm going to give you the inside scoop on a few films I've seen : What happens in Vegas, Angels and Demons , and Baby Mamma.

What happens in Vegas- Probably I will never spend time watching this again ha. Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher are two very fine looking humans, however the whole movie just did not impress me. Cameron's acting never has for that matter. Just the whole plot to this movie I though was a little too unrealistic and weird. But better than some movies I have seen though. Final Grade: C

Angels and Demons- This one was fantastic. I was hoping to read the book before watching the movie but it didn't happen. One of the reasons why I liked it so much was the fact that I was actually able to visit a lot of these locations in the movie a couple summers ago (The Vatican City, The Sistine Chapel, as well as others). Tom Hanks as usual did a good job but I might note- he is starting to look way old. Probably because he is ha. The plot was so intense- amazing music. This is one of those movies I'd see again and now I will be reading the book as well.
B+ or A-..... I can't decide.

Baby Mamma- Wow I just love this movie. Tina Fey does a perfect job of portraying a single lady who will call for desperate measures to become a mother. I love it, my mom loves it, and I watched it with two boys, who also love it. Lots of pregnancy humor. You go girl.
